Stanley Cup playoffs start on Wednesday...

and the Sabres are nowhere to be found. This sucks.

They didn't deserve it. Not this year.

But now that they've tasted real defeat, now that they've been forced into the corner for a time out, I bet they'll come out more disciplined next year.

Good point....they certainly did not deserve the playoffs this year and good thing they missed it. I would feel even worse to witness a first-round massacre at the hands of Les Habs.

I respectfully disagree on your second point, however. This is a young team and, for the first time in 3 years, I detect a palpable sense of fear on the team. It may be the leadership vacuum, it may be the uncertainty management has fostered with regard to contract negotiations...who knows. All I know is that this team, which could have made the playoffs just by going .500 at home, played scared and tight down the stretch and that does not bode well for next year.
